The Secretary of State offices (SoS) in Michigan have a lot of services to offer the public. They can help you in more ways than you think. If you’re stuck with a problem about licenses, vehicles, or anything of the sorts, the Secretary of State offices can help! There are over 30 different services offered by the SoS. If going in person is not an option, they also have online services and self-serve stations at some of the offices.
In Michigan, next to every Secretary of State office there is an LA Insurance office next to it. It has never been more convenient to get insurance. At the Secretary of State, there are services that can help people get their licenses reinstated or renewed, checking driving records, and many other services. If you have lost your license for any reason, LA Insurance has got you covered. The first step is to get your license reinstated at the Secretary of State and the second step is to go next door to an LA Insurance agency and get your free quote.
During the pandemic in 2020, a lot of SOS offices completely shut down. Then in July of 2021 the hours were extended to help residents get appointments, but those appointments were still out months in advance (www.bridgemi.com). Most services can be taken care of online or at self-service stations to decrease the amount of foot traffic within the offices themselves. LA Insurance helps everyone, regardless of driving record, dui, tickets, or any other driving issues one might have.
In Michigan the SOS offers a new service called “road to restoration” meaning that if there are any issues with your license or driving record, it’s fixable. Making the best of this new program that the state offers means completing the necessary tasks to get the best results. LA Insurance has got you covered when you are ready! We have helped many people out when it comes to getting insurance during certain circumstances. L.A. Insurance offers affordable insurance solutions to help you save money so it’s available for when you really need it. In Michigan, people’s driving records are important and weigh a lot into important life decisions. A driving record is a history of someone’s traffic violations, traffic crashes, failures to appear in court (FAC) and Failures to comply with the judgment (FCJ). The driving record also includes not at-fault crashes, at-fault crashes with a matching conviction and any convictions relating to a driver training course (Michigan.gov). Knowing what types of events effect a driving record can help people understand how the system in Michigan works, to keep their records clean.
First point is to understand the points! The point system is set up so that there are up to 6 points. Each offense has a point value. Points stay on your record for two years from the date you are found responsible for the violation (www.co.monroe.mi.us/)
Alcohol related offenses such as driving under the influence (DUI) or impaired driving cost 4 to 6 points to your record. The Michigan Vehicle Code Section 257.625 explains all of the aspects of the laws that pertain to drunk driving or other alcohol related offenses. For these offenses the points are not the only punishment to the offender. Community service hours, imprisonment, Suspension of license, fines, probation, and these payments would have to be made no later than 30 days (legislature.mi.gov/).
Michigan Law Requires driver’s License suspensions for drug convictions, even if you were not driving at the time of the offense. Calling a Taxi or Ride Share service will ultimately cost less than going through court and losing your license or ruining your driving record. Selecting a designated driver or calling someone for a ride is probably the best option in that scenario (Michigan.gov). Some of these violations have mixed terms. Reckless driving and DUI are sometimes called wet reckless (drivinglaws.org).
All in all, there are a lot of things that affect people’s driving records. You can always access your driving records from the Secretary of State. If there are any issues with your driving record, there is a new program in place called “Road to Restoration” that can help people not get their licenses suspended and have some of the violations wiped off the record. Once someone has cleared their record and done everything required, insurance is easy to find! If you have just cleared your record and need help with a free quote, click here.

Join us as we delve into the fascinating history behind DST and discover why it's not only a time for setting our clocks forward but also for reviewing our insurance needs.
A Brief History Lesson
Daylight Saving Time, often abbreviated as DST, is a practice where clocks are set forward by one hour during the warmer months to extend evening daylight and conserve energy. While the concept may seem modern, its roots can be traced back over a century ago.
The idea of DST is often credited to Benjamin Franklin, who famously proposed the concept in an essay titled "An Economical Project for Diminishing the Cost of Light" in 1784. In the great lakes of Michigan there are many things you can find in the water; some are good and some, scary. A few of the things that can be found in Michigan’s great lakes are boats, jet skis, floating tubes, plants, fish, but most of all, invasive species. Invasive species are species of organisms that cause harm in environments where they do not belong. Some of the invasive species that live in the Michigan Great Lakes have been taking a toll on the economy and the ecosystem. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), there are 25 species of invasive fish living in the great lakes, including zebra mussels. The EPA also states that there are 7 different species of invasive plants that are cutting off the food supply for wildlife in the area and promoting erosion.
With all these invasive species being able to infiltrate boats and other water vehicles, it’s important to know how to manage them and keep them in check. The types of fish and plants that are invasive species create a lot of damage for owners of boats, jet skis, and other Personal watercrafts. Damage includes jammed propellers, broken propellers, obstructed water lines, and pump failures (Corke, boatus.com). All these damages are really expensive to manage and keep up. To avoid these damages to a boat or other personal watercrafts, there are a few things that make it easier.
Cleaning the boat regularly is the first easy way to keep invasive species from damaging the boat. If there is mud or plants that have stuck to your boat, they must be removed and cleaned off the surface until it is smooth. Another solution is to make sure there is no remaining water inside the boat. If you would like more information you can visit the EPA website.
Inflation is taking an effect on the auto industry. Not only for the big companies, but also for the consumers. The price of auto repair in the United States right now is increasing week by week, month to month. This issue is stressing out a lot of car owners, and the few folks out there who have car leases. Since inflation is such a big issue right now, there are ways to prevent any auto damage to your car or lease. Preventative measures to save money on auto repair costs are important to car buyers, owners, and people who are leasing a car. Keeping costs down and using these preventative measures will help save you money and keep your car working longer.
There are a few simple things you can do to keep your car in good condition and make sure that any future possible auto damage won’t happen. Making sure that your tires are properly inflated is one of the preventative measures to keep your car in good shape. Making sure your tires are at the right tire pressure can improve your gas mileage up to 3% in some cases, depending on the model of the car (EPA). No matter how much you try to avoid auto repair costs you will always have to change your oil when the light comes on. It is recommended that you use the right grade of motor oil for your car when you need an oil change. Using the correct grade of motor oil for your car can increase your miles per gallon by up to 2% (EPA).
Auto repair costs are not completely avoidable so it’s good to know that there are some things you can do to put off paying the prices. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) suggests not ignoring regular maintenance of your vehicle. Making sure that you are checking your oil, tire pressure, and even checking your coolant regularly (FTC) will save you a lot of money on repair costs. Why spend a lot of money on a huge auto repair if you can prevent it by spending it on regular maintenance instead and saving lots of money?
With inflation rising to historic levels, the specter of economic uncertainty looms over auto repair costs – just like the rest of the economy! L.A. Insurance offers affordable insurance solutions to help you save money so it’s available for when you really need it. The world that we are living in is amazing. The trees give us oxygen, the land gives us food and there is so much beautiful scenery to enjoy while relaxing. The world we live in gives us so much everyday and we should be more appreciative and try to take care of it. Today, on world conservation day, we want to give you some tips on how to help conserve nature. Conservation of nature will not only be good for people right now, but also future generations to come will be able to inhabit our world for longer.
At LA Insurance we make an effort to start by recycling all recyclables in our offices. We have separate recycling bins for paper and plastic. We also recommend planting trees since they absorb carbon and pollution. There is so much CO2 in our air that trees help to clean up that air and make it cleaner for us to breath. Planting trees and recycling are just a few of the ways that you can help to conserve the earth.
Other ways to help conserve the Earth are by volunteering, donating, staying aware and educated and using more sustainable products in your everyday life. Volunteering in weekend park clean-ups, helping a community garden get set up, or even just getting your community to start using recycling bins are all great ways to give your time to helping conserve your environment. If you don’t have the time to volunteer, there are so many environmental causes to donate to as an alternative. Make sure you follow environmentally friendly pages on social media and keep up to date on the latest news about conservation efforts. The more someone understands conservation, the more environmentally conscious the community will be.
There are so many great environmentally friendly products to use to minimize waste in the home. You can find some great products on Rolling Stone’s Eco-Friendly Products list or on Ecowatch.com. If you’re looking for any products that are eco-friendly for yourself, try to buy things with recyclable packaging. Either paper or recyclable plastic containers. Transferring your products to glass containers is also recommended so that you have less waste in the home. These tips are just a few that will help you live an eco-friendlier life and help the Earth stay clean.
Protect the planet that we all live on and make it better for future generations to come by being more conscious of the environment. Making sure that the environment is protected will help everyone live better and live longer too. LA Insurance believes that if you can protect the Earth, we got you covered. With pollution rising, the specter of environmental uncertainty looms over the future of our world! L.A. Insurance offers affordable insurance solutions to help you save money so it’s available for when you really need it.
