Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring is right around the corner and with that comes spring cleaning. Spring cleaning is the most necessary cleaning day the whole year! All winter we don’t have the sunlight that is needed to see every cob web and dust mite, that can cause lung issues, that’s  in your house. Staying healthy physically and keeping your home clean once there’s time are key in living a long and healthy life. We have come up with the best spring cleaning list. It will list a problem area in the house and then a few detailed tips on how to clean that area including supplies, method, and tools to use!

We suggest starting with the most common areas to deep clean first. The first category are The Majors: the living room, kitchen and appliances, and the bathrooms. The next category to clean would be The Outsides: the doors, the baseboards, the windows, the walls, and floors. The third category is to clean The Insides: the rooms and any upholstered furniture and organize the insides of cabinets and drawers. The last category is to clean The Heroes: the cleaning appliances and tools.

The Majors

THE LIVING ROOM

  • Dust and sanitize all surfaces.
  • Wipe down all technology, shelves, and books.
  • Sanitize anything that can be sanitized starting from the top of the room and moving down.
  • Any fans or gaming devices need to be wiped down and sanitized if possible.

THE KITCHEN

  • Clean the insides of the drawers and cabinets first then clean the outsides of the cabinets using a rag and all-purpose spray.
  • Wipe down and shine all counter tops and table tops as well as the chairs and bar stools.
  • Do a deep clean of the refrigerator.
  • The kitchen appliances need to be Deep cleaned the oven, the dishwasher, the sink and garbage disposal, the stove top, the microwave, the toaster, the air fryer, or anything that plugs into the wall.

THE BATHROOMS

  • Clean the insides and outsides of the cabinets and drawers and everything in them or on them, using a rag and all-purpose spray disinfectant.
  • Wipe down the mirror and countertop sink with paper towels and glass spray.
  • Clean and sanitize the toilet using a scrub brush, bathroom disinfectant spray and toilet bowl cleaner.
  • Dust and sanitize any fixtures on the wall (ex. Toilet paper holder) rag and all-purpose spray disinfectant.

The Outsides

THE WALLS AND BASEBOARDS

THE DOORS AND FLOORS

  • Wipe down the doors with an all purpose cleaner and a rag.
  • De-scuff or refresh the doors and sanitize all the handles and trim.
  • Mop and shine hardwood floors, deep clean carpets and rugs with carpet foam and vacuum, deep scrub all tile and grout and wax shine non-wood floors.

THE WINDOWS

  • Clean windows using a window cleaning agent and microfiber cloth to leave a streak free shine.
  • Dust and sanitize all blinds as well as the windowsill.
  • Wash the drapes and curtains in the washing machine (or follow cleaning instructions)

The Insides

THE FURNITURE

  • Wipe down and polish (if necessary) all furniture from top to bottom that you have in your rooms and hallways.
  • Vacuum and flip the mattresses and the upholstered chairs or couches and clean anything with a zipper on it based on the cleaning instructions.
  • Treat any stains on your couches, mattresses and furniture or rugs.

THE ROOMS

  • Wipe down and sanitize all of the furniture, the mirrors, and the headboards.
  • Wash and clean your sheets and bedding and treat any stains accordingly.
  • Sanitize your makeup brushes, kids’ toys, and your electronics as well as wiping down and sanitizing all light switches and fixtures.

THE CABINETS AND DRAWERS

  • Organize all of your cabinets and drawers logically as you’re cleaning.
  • If things can be wiped down when being put away, then wipe them down and sanitize them.
  • Throw away or donate old clothes and toys and things you don’t use anymore to declutter the home as well as emptying, cleaning, and organizing purses and backpacks.

The Heroes

THE CLEANING APPLIANCES AND TOOLS

  • Clean, empty and sanitize any appliances that you used to clean such as: steamers, vacuums, mini vacuums, scrub brushes, sponges, trash cans, and any other cleaning accessories.
  • Run a sanitizing washer load with all of the rags and towels that you used that can be washed. If they can’t be washed, throw them out!
  • Clean out the washer and dryer.

This is just a general categorical list of the best and easiest way to do your spring cleaning this year. Even if it isn’t spring and you feel that your home needs a deep clean, this list should help! Taking it day by day and spending time on cleaning the house will help you live healthier and live in a clean home.
